Dearest Dancing Deer Cookies

Filed under :
TS1119_DancingDeer.jpg Be a deer, and share the love! And the cookies!

What's better than giving the gift of delicious cookies?
Giving the subscription of delicious cookies every month!

TalkingShopping loves baked yum-yums (sugar and spice and everything nice, that's what girls are made of, right?) so when we come across a company that not only makes sweet treats but sweetens the deal by giving back to the community, well, how can we resist?

Just in case you haven't heard of the Dancing Deer Baking Company, they are dedicated to using only all-natural and Kosher ingredients in simple yet artistic packaging that is considerate for the environment. Plus, Dancing Deer's main philanthropic effort is helping homeless families with Sweet Home Project--sweet treats, sweet community involvement! They really are dears!

So whether you want to order from their collection of Fall Favorites, Holiday Gifts, or give the gift of a Monthly Munchies cookie subscription, it's all pretty darn sweet. And just FYI: November's cookie is Chocolate Peppermint.

TS1119_DancingDeerPumkinSpice.jpg Here's a quick sampling of what TS is craving:

Pumpkin Spice Pancake and Waffle Mix, $7.50 One of the best things about fall is that pumpkin is the flavor of the season! Yummeramma! And now we have discovered we can now wake up on a crisp autumn morning to warm pumpkin spice pancakes! Now that's the best part of waking up!

TS1117_DancingDeer_ReindeerNose.jpg
Reindeer Nose Cookies, $24.95 Made with real reindeer noses! That is, if reindeer noses were delicious little ginger cookies sprinkled with sugar. In each box of 20 cookies, there is one cinnamon flavored cookie. *Hums tune of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer* As cute an idea as this is, it's gonna be interesting to see who gets the special red cookie. Oh deer!

...And that's the way the cookie crumbles, but we doubt there will even be crumbles left when you receive your order.

Brita Now Recycling in the U.S.

Filed under :
TS1119__FilterforGood_16oz.jpgTS Update:
Remember a couple of months ago when TalkingShopping was disappointed to tell our shoppers there were only recycling programs in Germany and France for old water filters? Well, it's time for an announcement of great news! After seeing success with Brita's FilterForGood campaign, Brita is at it again!

Brita has announced a plan to start recycling their water filters in the new year! Old Brita pitcher water filters will be made into products like toothbrushes, cups, and cutting boards through Preserve, makers of 100% recycled household items. Preserve will be recycling the entire Brita plastic pitcher filter casing. Shoppers can drop off their filters at participating Whole Foods stores (all No. 5 plastics can also be dropped off here!) or you can mail in your filter via snail mail (and your box will be recycled by Preserve as well) to:

Preserve Gimme 5

Cortland NY 13045

And if you are interested, you can order yourself a Preserve Toothbrush made with a handle of 100% recycled materials, $2.79.

iPhone 3G to be Sold at Walmart?!

Filed under :
Thumbnail image for TS0708iPhone.jpgRumors rumors rumors!  According to the AppleInsider, Walmart has been rumored to have inked a deal to sell the iPhone 3G post-holidays.  Apparently, tech rumor site BGR (The Boy Genius Report) obtained a super secretive employee memo sent by the higher ups at Wamart that began with the following jewel of info:

"We are pleased to announce that Wal-Mart has reached agreement with Apple to offer iPhone 3G in Wal-Mart and Wal-Mart-managed Sam's Club* Connection Centers nationwide beginning December 28, 2008.  AT&T will support Wal-Mart and Sam's Club with the activation process for iPhone 3G, and we need all National Retail employees engaged to ensure a successful launch."

Also according to BGR, about 2,500 Walmart locations will offer the iPhone 3G and what's more, they even got word that it will in fact be sold at 69 Sam's Club locations!  Execs at Walmart are staying mum on pricing, most likely as part of their agreement with At&T and Apple.  Can't have people holding out for a better deal (although no one's sure that there will be a "better deal" at Walmart) until after the holiday shopping season, now can we!  Peeps at Apple and AT&T need to get paid, ya know!

According to the memo published by BGR, a two year contract with AT&T will still be required to activate.  Stay tuned for more updates on pricing and more!  We can't wait to see what happens!

Starbucks and the Season for Giving

Filed under :
TS1119_StarbucksRED.jpgWhen was the last time you were treated to coffee from a stranger?

Lately customers at a Loveland, Colorado Starbucks have been putting the good karma out there by "Paying it Backwards" at the drive-thru and paying for the order of the person behind them. Imagine what a lovely surprise that would be!

Even with the current economic roller coaster, it's comforting to hear that people are still moved to do random acts of kindness! Good thing all people aren't as crabby as some (Hey, don't give me that look!) before they are properly caffeinated... Maybe some people are just trying to get back on the Nice List before Christmas?

To find out how Starbucks is giving back this season, keep reading! Read the Full Story

Glamour's 'Dos and Don'ts of Boots'!

Filed under :
TS1118SMRidingBoot.jpgWe just love it when one of our favorite fashion mags creates a "Dos and Don'ts" list!  It's so much fun!  Today, the TalkingShopping girls took a look at Glamour mags "The Dos and Don'ts of Boots" slide show and as always, the "Dos" were quite enlightening and the "Don'ts" gave us our comedic-fashion fill for the day!  Plus, 'tis the season and year of the boot, so knowing how to shop them is vital!

One of the best tidbits of advice from the "Dos" category was the equestrian boot.  It's classic, chic and a timeless wardrobe staple that just seems to last and last!  Paired with your best-fitting skinny jeans and a fitted blazer, you're basically work-to-play perfect with hardly any effort!  Also, to our surprise, the gals (or guy, who knows) at Glamour fully approve of the classic rain boot, just not a sloppy galoshy.  Basically, stick to names that have been around a while, like Hunter, in more toned-down hues instead of those cartoony kiddie rain boots.  Yikes!
TS1118HunterBoots.jpg
Another important gem of advice that Glamour offered is to stick to the neutrals when you're searching out the perfect pair of boots.  Leather boots (a must) can be pretty pricey, so consider it an investment, and one that will go with basically everything you own!  Capiche?!

Above: A more affordable version of contemporary label Loeffler Randall's oh-so-popular $600 and up leather boots, the BCBGirls Petler Boot (notice the neutral hue); $179 at Piperlime.

Classics like these Hunter Wellington Rain Boots are great in a solid color like navy; $115 at ShopBop.

Levi's Does New Ultimate Lift Jeans!

Filed under :
TS1118ultimatelift.jpg

Get this ladies! A new style has been added to Levi's family, and it's supposed to enhance our silhouettes, giving us the shape we want.  Ultimate Lift 544 was designed to literally lift the our bums into the cup shape of the back of the jeans. Can you believe that?!

The TalkingShopping gals must say that we can't condone those faux-booty jeans that have padding sewn into them, but this is another story, a better story.

We know what it's like to search far and wide for that perfect pair of jeans. It's quite tough to find a pair that really works. These babies are specifically built to lift your derrière using proprietary fit technology, special fabric and unique design. The jeans are available in slim straight, boot cut and flare. Somethin' for everyone!
